Urinalysis

Urinalysis

Urine typically has a density between 1.001 and 1.035 due to dissolved substances, making it denser than pure water (density 1.000). Low density can indicate conditions like diabetes insipidus or excessive water intake, while high density may signal dehydration, infections, or organ failure.

For the dipstick method, check the color scale on the bottle, dip the test strip into the urine, and remove excess liquid. Hold the strip horizontally and after the required wait time, compare the results with the color scale. Most test zones require a 60-second wait, except for leucocytes, which need 120 seconds. No any problems found.

Protein determination using the turbidity method was performed based on the dipstick results. Four standards were prepared from the albumin stock solution, and the calculations were checked with an assistant before proceeding.  A calibration curve was created, and the protein concentration of the urine sample was determined.
