Double Antibody Sandwich Test for Detecting BAR Protein
A lateral flow strip was used to detect the presence of the BAR protein in plant tissue extract. Antibodies specific to the BAR protein, coupled with a color reagent, were incorporated into the test strip. When the strip was placed in the plant tissue extract, the antibodies bound to the BAR protein, forming a sandwich complex.
In sample A, only the control line, representing the MPK4 gene, appeared on the test strip, indicating a negative result. This suggests that the sample does not contain Phosphinothricin Acetyl Transferase (PAT), the BASTA-resistant transgenic protein. In contrast, sample B showed both the control line and the test line corresponding to the PAT transgene, confirming a positive result and indicating the presence of the BASTA-resistant protein.
